About Asheville Holistic Dentist

Asheville Holistic Dentist is a full-service dental clinic in Asheville, North Carolina, practising biological dentistry: treatment delivered in conjunction with the whole body, on the stated premise that teeth are an integral part of overall health and that dental health can have considerable influence on other disease processes. The clinic works alongside chiropractors, acupuncturists, physical therapists and others, and aims to diagnose and treat the cause of a dental problem rather than its symptoms alone. Restorative work is organised around preserving healthy enamel — all-ceramic crowns, overlays, inlays and bridges are designed and milled during the visit using CEREC computer-aided design and biocompatible porcelain instead of metal substructures. Mercury amalgam is not stocked on the premises, and existing amalgam is removed under a documented set of containment measures. Ozone therapy, laser dentistry, PRF growth factors, dental implants, orthodontics, sleep apnea treatment and TMJ care are also offered.

Common Questions

How does Asheville Holistic Dentist remove existing mercury amalgam fillings?

The clinic follows the SMART protocol for amalgam removal. The measures it describes include face shields, hair and body impermeable coverings, non-latex dental dams, and charcoal and chlorella rinses. A small-diameter carbide drill running with copious water sections the amalgam into large chunks, while an external oral aerosol vacuum works alongside high-speed evacuation fitted with a clean-up device. Amalgam separators contain the removed mercury, which a hazardous waste disposal team then collects.

What material goes back into the tooth after an amalgam filling is taken out?

Two routes are described. Where the previous amalgam was small, a BPA-free white resin can fill the space. Because most amalgams sit wider at the base than they appear on the surface, and expansion and contraction may have cracked the remaining enamel, ceramic porcelain restorations — inlays, onlays or crowns — are required in most instances.

How many visits does a ceramic crown or overlay take here?

One. All-ceramic crowns and overlays are produced during the appointment using CEREC computer-aided design and manufacturing on site. Biocompatible porcelain replaces the metal substructure used in porcelain-fused-to-metal work, which removes the dark line often visible at the gum line. The customised fit is described as conserving more healthy tooth structure and reducing gapping, so food is less able to pass beneath the restoration.

Is ozone therapy a separate appointment or part of routine treatment?

Ozone is included in dental cleanings and restorative appointments as part of standard care.

What does a hygiene appointment at this clinic involve?

Both prophylaxis cleanings and periodontal maintenance are offered. An appointment opens with a prerinse to disinfect the mouth. Water is filtered by reverse osmosis, de-ionising, distilling and ozone processes; ultrasonic debridement with ozonated water is followed by hand scaling and polishing with a paste containing no dyes, chemicals or fluoride. Periodontal maintenance adds ozone treatment and low-level laser therapy and is scheduled every three to four months rather than six.

Beyond restorative work, what else does the clinic treat?

Listed services include sleep apnea treatment and TMJ care, dental implants and peri-implantitis management, orthodontics with either Invisalign or wire braces, laser gum therapy and laser fillings, pinhole grafting, bite alignment, and PRF natural growth factors. CAD-CAM and laser dentistry are described as the technologies behind much of this work, with same-day crowns, bridges and inlays produced through CEREC.
