I had truly hoped to find a long-term dental home with this practice, especially as I’ve been searching for a biological dentist closer to my home in Central Austin. After waiting eight months for my appointment, I arrived optimistic but unfortunately left feeling disappointed and energetically depleted. The hygienist examined my teeth thoroughly, but there seemed to be some uncertainty about how to proceed with the actual cleaning. I was informed by the front desk manager and Dr. Rayne that, due to their assessment of the complexity of my needs, a full cleaning could not be completed in one visit—even though two hours had been scheduled for the appointment. Instead, I was told I would need four separate appointments to complete a full cleaning, with a projected cost upwards of $1600. This was surprising to hear. I’m 44 years old, have never had a cavity, and have received regular cleanings every six months for over 20 years—both from biological and conventional dentists in Austin. No provider has ever expressed concern over completing a standard cleaning in one visit, nor have I encountered such a high price point for basic dental care. When I asked about the possibility of consolidating the cleanings, I was told the next available appointment would be four to five months out—meaning nearly a year would pass without a cleaning. Despite my insurance covering an exam and cleaning, I left without receiving either of my main concerns: a cleaning or a night guard. My consultation with Dr. Rayne was extremely detailed. While I appreciated the thoroughness, it felt overwhelming. I held my mouth open for over an hour while every nuance of each tooth was explained to me. It was far more information than I needed, and I left feeling mentally and physically drained. The appointment ended with a hug I didn’t expect or consent to, which left me feeling uncomfortable. When I inquired about a night guard, I was referred to two orthodontists, which seemed unusual—especially since I’ve had night guards made in-office by other dentists. In fairness, I did receive referrals for periodontal work I already knew I needed. Still, I left feeling that none of my most pressing needs were met, and the entire experience felt rushed, overwhelming, and energetically off. My intention in sharing this is not to disparage, but to offer honest feedback in hopes it helps the practice refine its approach—particularly in setting expectations around scheduling, services offered, and pricing transparency. I’m returning to my previous biological dentist in Lakeway, even though it’s a longer drive. They have always offered excellent care, clear communication, and the ability to meet my needs at each visit.

If you're looking for a dentist who truly goes above and beyond, look no further than Dr. Rayne and her incredible team. Not only is she a fantastic, gentle dentist with a sweet and caring staff, but she somehow manages to make going to the dentist feel like a treat—especially for kids. At our latest visit with my daughter, we walked in to find Easter decorations and adorable takeaway crafts for the little ones. Who does that? Dr. Rayne and her team, that's who. It’s those thoughtful little touches, paired with consistently excellent care, that make this place so special. Highly recommended!
